In the ultra-violet family, there is UV-A, UV-B, and UV-C which are defined by their wavelength. UV-C light covers the 180 nanometer to 280 nanometer spectrum, with 270-280nm the ideal range for water disinfection. Current applications exist in hospitals to disinfect surfaces and HVAC systems to disinfect air. UV-C light eradicates germs and bacteria in water by disrupting their very DNA! This prevents any further reproduction of those germs.
Within ME Bottle's patented caps, we pack a powerful LED (light-emitting diode) chip that emits UV-C (265nm) light that is able to eliminate 99.9999% (Yes, to four decimal places!) of harmful germs and bacteria that grow in water over time, including E. Coli. 60 seconds of exposure is all it takes, leaving behind nothing but clean water. These LED don't require much energy to run, so expect it to last for a lifetime!
We pack a 1000 mAh lithium ion polymer battery inside of the cap to power the LED. That is a lot of juice in one little package!
